Fractals are small mathematical formulas, reproducing themselves over and over again without making identical copies. That might not sound too exciting, but when the computer visualizes these algorithms it's easy to get fascinated. A fractal may describe a sea shell, a tree, a mountain range and a lot of other structures that usually are hard to depict in technical systems. They can as well produce images reminding of nothing else in this world.
Galleri.nu will get back with some underlying fractal mechanisms in a more technical article. In the meantime - have a look at some fancy pictures created in the program Ultra Fractal 3. The final touch has, as always, been made in Paintshop Pro. The splendid Ultra Fractals is written by Frederik Slijkerman. You may download an evaluation copy as well as buy a license at his site.
